On the occasion of Design Miami.Paris, Galeries Gastou and Desprez-Bréhéret present a remarkable ensemble from the collection of an artisan of the Artisans de Marolles. Under the guidance of Jean Touret, these makers developed a distinctive aesthetic where the hand, imperfection, and the poetry of wood take center stage. This ensemble will be placed in dialogue with works ranging from the early 1900s to contemporary design, brought together under a common thread: birds as a decorative motif.
From this language emerge the wrought-iron « Cocotte » lamps of Marolles and the sculptural table « Oiseau d’argent » by François-Xavier Lalanne. Extending the aviary theme, artist Irene Cattaneo has created a monumental chandelier in the form of a tree branch.
True to the spirit of art dealers who rise at dawn, the two galleries have titled their 2025 presentation: Early birds.
